Is Elisha and the Bears a good name for a Hebrew metal band?
Nah...I would recommend like two words for a band...

And don't use names in the band name, they get forgotten easily.

Elisha's Bears. Now that's a good one.
Reply:How about you make part of the band name in Hebrew?

EX: Elisha and the Dovim (Hebrew for bears).

Whats the hebrew name for marcus?

MARCUS

Gender: Masculine

Usage: Ancient Roman, English, Biblical (Variant)

Pronounced: MAHR-kus

Roman praenomen, or given name, which was probably derived from the name of the Roman god MARS. Two famous Roman bearers of this name were Marcus Tullius Cicero (known simply as Cicero), a statesman and orator, and Marcus Aurelius, a notable emperor of the 2nd century. This was also the name of a pope of the 4th century. Marcus is the original form of the name Mark.

There is no Hebrew name for Marcus.

Mars in Hebrew is Ma'adim.

Whats the hebrew name for marcus?
Marcus does not translate into Hebrew.

Marcus

P English meaning descendant of Marco. Italian form of Mark, which means belonging to the god, Mars, god of war, (Smith, 1988). Marcus as a surname would be a patronymic for son of Mark. Hans and Hodges state that Mark is in many cases an Anglicization of several like-sounding Jewish surnames (Hanks and Hodges, 1988).

Since Mark has also been an Askenazic surname in Eastern Europe, where English influence is out of the question, there must be at least one other explanation. Another explanation is that it is from the Yiddish masculine given name. Markus which is related to Marcus, a name of Latin origin borrowed from German.
Reply:As it's been said, Marcus is not a Hebrew name. If you would like to find an alternative, check out this website: http://www.my-hebrew-name.com/

If you would like it translitered into Hebrew (Marcus in Hebrew letters), it is 诪专拽讜住. This is read right-to-left. Hope this helps.
Reply:I dont know hebrew but id guess just say "marcus" and make kind of a choking sound between the MAR and CUS. hebrew kinda sounds like choking to me sometimes.

Like the "HK" sound in arabic...sounds like choking, theres a lot more of that in hebrew.

Plss what is the Hebrew name for the Ark of the Covenant or Ark of the Testimony?

PLS refer to the holy Bible.

Plss what is the Hebrew name for the Ark of the Covenant or Ark of the Testimony?
The Ark of the Covenant (in Hebrew: aron habrit) is described in the Hebrew Bible as a sacred container built at the command of Moses, wherein rested the stone tablets containing the Ten Commandments. The Ark and its sanctuary were "the beauty of Israel" (Lamentations 2:1).

During the journeys of the Israelites, the Ark was carried by the priests in advance of the host (Numbers 4:5, 6; 10:33-36; Psalms 68:1; 132:8). The Ark was borne by priests into the bed of the Jordan, which separated, opening a pathway for the whole of the host to pass over (Joshua 3:15, 16; 4:7, 10, 11, 17, 18). The Ark was moreover borne in the procession round Jericho (Josh. 6:4, 6, 8, 11, 12). When carried, the Ark was always wrapped in a veil, in badger skins, a blue cloth, and was carefully concealed, even from the eyes of the Levites who carried it.

The Hebrew word aron is used in the Bible to designate any type of ark, chest or coffer, for any purpose (Genesis 50:26; 2 Kings 12:9, 10). The Ark of the Covenant is distinguished from all others by such titles as "Ark of God" (1 Samuel 3:3), "Ark of the Covenant" (Josh. 3:6; Hebrews 9:4), "Ark of the Testimony" (Ex. 25:22).

Hebrew name Peniel / Penuel for boy?

I am thinking of giving my son the name Peniel or Penuel as his Hebrew / Jewish name? Is one or the other more suitable as a name for a boy? Both are used in the same biblical passage and I believe mean "Face of God" so I'm not sure what the difference is. Thanks!

Hebrew name Peniel / Penuel for boy?
I like these names...

Peniel [驻旨职谞执讬讗值诇] and Penuel [驻旨职谞讜旨讗值诇] are the names of the place where Jacob wrestled the angel (Genesis 32:31-32).

The difference between the two names comes from the different syntactic role they are playing in the passages, but they both mean the same thing: "face of god".
Reply:Hey, if you like the name, then go for it! Don't listen to anyone else, just listen to your heart. :D

But also think of your child--will he like the name? A name stays with you forever, and even if you change it, it's still a major part of you. Make sure this is really what you want before you name your child this.

Best of luck.

Is Yonathan a Hebrew name?

in English Jonathan

Is Yonathan a Hebrew name?
yes its a hebrew name (origin)

The boy's name Jonathan \j(o)-na-than\ is pronounced JAHN-a-thun. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "gift of God". Related to Nathan. Biblical: the son of King Saul, Jonathan was noted for his manliness, generosity, and unselfishness. He saved David's life when Saul would have killed him. English author Jonathan Swift; actors Jon Voight, Jonathan Lipnicki.

Jonathan has 4 variant forms: Johnathan, Johnathon, Jon and Jonathon.

Reply:Jonathan (in Hebrew, יְהוֹנָתָן / יוֹנָתָן, Standard Yonatan / Yəhonatan Tiberian Yônāṯān / Yəhônāṯān; "Whom YHWH gave", "God's gift", "Gift of God" or "God has given") is a common given name. He was a son of King Saul in the Hebrew Bible, and a close friend of David.

Alternative spellings of Jonathan include Jonathon, Johnathan, Jonatan, Jonothon, Jonothan, Johnathon, and Yonatan (a common name in Hebrew). Biblical variants include Yehonathan, Y'honathan, Yhonathan, Yonatan, Yonaton, Yonoson, Yeonoson or Yehonasan. In Israel, "Yoni" is a common nickname for Yonatan (Jonathan) in the same way Bill is for William in English.[1].

Nicknames include Jon, John, Jonn, Yoni, Yonny, Jonny, Jona, Jonnie, Jonty, and Jonno (all with spelling variations), as well as Jack, Jay, Jake, Jon Jon, and less frequently, Nathan or Nate.

Etymologically, Jonathan is not a variation of John, but a longer version of Nathan. Names with similar meanings include Theodore in Greek and Bogdan in Slavonic.

The name day for Jonathan is 1 March in France, 22 December in Sweden, and 29 December in Germany.
Reply:Hey if this is the original mimi, it's great to see you! :) You reminded me of a book called "Samir and Yonatan" about two boys, one Palestinian and one Israeli who meet in the hospital. I think you would like it. Anyway, based on that book I thought the name was Yonatan in Hebrew, not Yonathan.
Reply:Yes it is a Hebrew name

First, there is no J in the Hebrew language J = Y

Yonathan, in Hebrew pronounced yo-na-tan, from yeh-ho-naw-thawn, meaning God (Jehovah) gave, was the eldest son of King Saul, and the best friend of the future King David. Jonathan is first mentioned in the Hebrew Bible (1 Samuel 13:1-2).

Reply:contraction of Jehoanan, Jehovah's gift.

1. One of the high priest's family, who, with Annas and Caiaphas, sat in judgment upon the apostles Peter and John. Acts 6:6
