Which name is the correct original Hebrew name for Jesus...Yeshua or Yahshua?

I know that Yahweh is the original Hebrew name used for God in the original Hebrew Bible, but what about Jesus? I believe that the correct original Hebrew name for Jesus was "Yeshua" but some people use "YAHshua"...which one is the best pronunciation and spelling?

Which name is the correct original Hebrew name for Jesus...Yeshua or Yahshua?
i think its the 2nd one but God understands we dont speak Hebrew...
Reply:Honestly? It was probably Yehoshua (Joshua) - the other variants don't appear anywhere and there is no record of anyone having the name Yeshuah or Yashuah in any Hebrew texts, including the OT. As for "Yahweh" - nope again. We know it was YHVH, but don't have the knowledge of the correct vowelization.

It is debatable whether Jesus was ever mentioned in the Talmud, but in the 4-5 references which could conceivably be referring to him (none of them a particularly good correlation to what is known about his life, so most Jews think they refer to other people), the name used is Yeshu... but that was actually an acronym (Y-Sh-U, which stands for "Yemach Shmo u'Zikro") for "may his name be blotted out." So I'm not certain that's what you'd want to go with either.

In other words, pick whatever you want. Chances are that's what happened when it was first written (in Greek) and his name was first recorded as Iesus, or Jesus.
Reply:Strange. What you "know" is false.

Yahweh is NOT the original Hebrew name used for G-d in the original.

Ancient Hebrew has no vowels, so it is absolutely impossible to claim that YHWH is really Yahweh.

It simply isn't true.
Reply:In the original Greek the name Jesus is Iesous pronounced ee-ay-sooce. In the Hebrew it's Yehowshuwa, pronounced yeh-ho-shoo'-ah or Yehowshua, pronounced yeh-ho-shoo'-ah
Reply:It's 讬砖讜注 - Yeshu' (stress on last syllable).

English doesn't have the 注 consonant, so to you it may sound like "Yeshu"
Reply:And then Moses asked what shall I tell the people that your name is. God so replied: Ehyeh asher ehyeh!

Makes for a nice tattoo written in Hebrew.
Reply:They only used consonants, e.g. David spelled DWD. Take your pick on the vowels.
Reply:YHWH.....There are no vowels in the Hebrew writings.
