How come we don't really know what Jesus' Hebrew name was?

Was Christianity purely a Greek thing?

How come we don't really know what Jesus' Hebrew name was?
Yeshua (and variants) was a common name back then -- which leads to confusion whenever later Hebrew texts mention a Yeshua; Christians assume that it has to be referring to their Yeshua. :-)

It's not quite John Doe. But it's not all that far off either.
Reply:Yeshua bar Yosef

Christianity was initially a "Jewish thing"

EDIT: I can't let your incorrect information be posted as factual. The name "Jesus" is an English form of the Latin Iesus, which itself is derived from the Greek Iesous, which is a transliteration of the Hebrew-Aramaic Yeshua, meaning "YHWH rescues"
Reply:We don't even know if he actually existed forget about what his name might be or anything he might have really said.
Reply:Yah'shua HaMashiach Adonai
Reply:Yehoshua is its Hebrew variant, but Jesus spoke Aramaic...
Reply:Yeshua
Reply:It's Zeus. He said "Hey, Zeus." Do I look Peurto Rican to you?
Reply:Yeshua or Joshua.
Reply:What that geek above me said.
