Our Savior was born in Israel and eventually was given a Hebrew name. Why then calling Him JESUS?

Acts 4:12

Our Savior was born in Israel and eventually was given a Hebrew name. Why then calling Him JESUS?
Yeshua is the original Aramaic proper name for Jesus the Nazarene, who lived from about 6 B.C.E. to 27 C.E. (A.D.) The word "Jesus" is actually a mis-transliteration of a Greek mis-transliteration. The Emperor Constatine even mistook Jesus for Apollo, the son of the Greek god Zeus. In Hebrew Yeshua means Salvation while the name Jesus has no intrinsic meaning in English whatsoever.

Yeshua Ben Yosef

It is most proper to call Him Yeshua. It was indeed his proper name, given to him by his parents, and only in Hebrew does this name have any meaning. In Hebrew Yeshua means both "Salvation," and the concatenated form of Yahoshua, is "Lord who is Salvation." The name Jesus has no intrinsic meaning in English whatsoever.
Reply:This is a cut-and-paste article from an incorrect dealing with the name of Jesus. Report Abuse

Reply:Firstly, "Yashua" does not simply mean "Salvation" but means "YHWH is salvation." Yashua is not a concatenated with another "ho" to form Yahoshua because Yashua is a shortened form of Yahoshua. Both Yahoshua and Yashua mean "YHWH is salvation." Report Abuse

Reply:The correct transliteration of Yashua into Greek is Iesous. The transliteration of Iesous into the English language was originally "Iesvs"; as the English language developed the "I" eventually became a "J" and the "v" became a "u". There is no mis-transliteration. It is correctly transliterated. Report Abuse

Reply:Jesus, Yashua, Yehoshua, Iesous all have the same meaning, i.e., "YHWH [who] is salvation." Now the name "Jehovah" is based off a misunderstanding of the use of the vowels supplied by the Masorete scribes with the Tetragrammaton.

Jesus WAS the Son of God.- Mark 1:1

"Isa was the son of Mariam, the sister of Moses."

Jesus was the son of Mary, the lineage of King David.- Matthew 21:9

"Isa did not die on the cross, and was not resurrected."

"Isa is a prophet like Mohammad and like Moses."

Jesus is the "I AM" who was before Mohammad, before Moses, and before Abraham - John 8:58
Reply:Because the bible most non-Jews use is an English translation of a translation of the bible from the Greek. Many words were probably corrupted during the process.
Reply:Beats me.
Reply:Yes, Jesus was a Jewish settler from the West Bank.

The Qur'an confuses Miriam (Moses' sister) with Mary (Jesus' mum).
Reply:Anglicized. Traditions of man. Humans prefer comfort %26amp; familiarity over truth.
Reply:Because that is what the angel Gabriel told Mary that was the name God had chosen for him when he announced to her that she would be carrying the Lord.
Reply:his name is ISSA in the Quran

Jesus sound like a Greek name to me.
Reply:because it's the name with the broadest appeal and it's politically acceptable

Jesus the Jesuit

or in Spanish or Greek

yhesus it sounds like Dr Seuss
Reply:Jesus is the English translation of His actual name, Yeshua (which is Hebrew).
Reply:Ignorance. His real name is Yeshua which means "Yahweh saves". In English Yeshua means Joshua!

If the Christian church would have called him Yeshua then I Doubt so many people would have killed and persecuted Jews.

They gave him a non Jewish name which in turn made him look gentile which justified killing so many Jews.

P.S. Palestine did not exist until 70 a.d when the Romans invaded and destroyed Israel. The Romans named Israel Palestine to mock the Jews. Palestine means "land of the Philistines". The Philistines was the ancient enemy of the Jews.
Reply:good question
Reply:Thats the latin form of his name. His hebrew name was Isa (=josah)
Reply:Jesus is the modern English translation of his name. If we spoke Hebrew, we would use the Hebrew translation. There is a different name for him in every language, but they all have the same meaning. My name is pronounced differently in different languages, so is yours...
Reply:He was born in Palestine not Israel, and his name is Essa son of Maryam.
