Like Paula Abdul, or Laila Ali..
Does bearing such name represent their faith by public understanding?
Does bearing an Arabic/Hebrew name make you a Muslim/Christian/Jew? such as Abdul, Muhammed, David, Ariel.....
mostly yes! but not necessarily.
Reply:Usually, a persons name is given to them by someone else before they are old enough to have a "faith" yet. It more likely indicates that "faith" or heritage of the person's parents. Not all children continue in their parent's faith. I know many people with an Arabic or Hebrew name who are not of Muslim/Christian/Jewish faith.
Reply:well as you can see my name is Paula the female
version of Paul and I'm not Jewish.
my husbands name is Joseph as well as my
grandson,
and my two other grandson's are Adam and Daniel.
I like carrying the name of someone special in the Bible,
but there are a lot of people with these names that have no religion at all.
Reply:Just because a name appears in the Bible doesn't make it religious. That being said when I named my daughters I speficially avoided Biblical names and stuck to names originating in Greece as that's where most of our western values come from, not the Bible.
Reply:No. And guess what? Paula Abdul is Jewish.
Her father is Harry Abdul, a Syrian Jew, and her mother, Lorraine Rykiss, is also Jewish.
Reply:NO. Anyone can change their name anyone can call themselves Muslim/Christian/Jew, it doesn't make it a fact. The devil/Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light.
Reply:I don't think so ... coz some words have meaning behind them so people choose them ..
but people do relate them to a certain religion i guess ..
Reply:I hope not. I sure do like bacon.
Reply:No, my name is James and I'm not Jewish at all.
Reply:its not a rule.
