What is the name for the first part of the Hebrew Bible? ?

Old Testament?

Book of the Dead?

Exodus?

What is the name for the first part of the Hebrew Bible? ?
The Torah
Reply:Jews call the first five books The Torah. Christians call them The Pentateuch. Both Jews and Christians also call them The Five Books of Moses.

The first five books are part of the Old Testament. The Old Testament is what Christians call the Hebrew Bible (or Tanakh)

The Book of the Dead is not part of the Hebrew Bible.

Exodus is the second book of the Bible.
Reply:The Torah - this is the holy Jewish text, and appears in scroll form in all Synagogues. We use Hebrew names for the five books of Moses, as opposed to the Greek names that are used by non Jews for the most part.

The 'old testament' is a purely Christian text. It was produced by the Church, and they reorganised it (wrongly!) and mistranslated some parts of it. No Jews read or study the OT.

The Tanakh is what we call the entire Hebrew scriptures: Torah, Prophets, Writings.

Reply:The Torah is the first five books. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.

The old testament itself is known as the Tanakh
Reply:TORAH, also called the Pentateuch.

This includes Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
Reply:It's called the Torah and the Hebrew Bible in the ancient days was the Tenak and when that Tenak was on scrolls it was called the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Reply:Torah refers to the 5 books of Moses, which is the Torah.
