Jesus is a Roman name. Jesus never had a known Hebrew name, which seems very strange for a person that was supposed to be Jewish and G-d!
Some people try and take his name and create a Jewish name for him, like Yeshua, but this is innacurate and a fraud. You can't work backwards!
What is the translation of the Hebrew name Jesus?
Allah
Reply:oooomg...."jesus" is originally named "yehoshua" in hebrew, but when saying his name in hebrew nowadays, you would say "yeshkeh".
Reply:wrong! jahovah
Reply:Salvation. Although, technically Jesus is not a Hebrew name. "Jesus" doesn't mean anything in any language. The Hebrew is Yeshua, which was transliterated into Greek as Iesous, and then into English as Jesus.
Reply:Yeshua
Reply:""YAHSHUA" is the Hebrew for the name. However the Greek "Iesous" is the language from which the English name Jesus was derived. The name Christ is also Greek and it means 'anointed'.
""Now the Oxford English Dictionary shows the derivation of the name “Jesus” as follow: “In ancient Latin Jesus is spelled Iesus, in ancient Greek (I-ee-sous), ad. late Heb. or Aramaic yeshua, Jeshua, for the earlier y’hoshua, Jehoshua or Joshua (explained as ‘Jah (or Jahveh) is salvation’: cf. y’shuah ‘salvation, deliverance’, and Matt. 1.21” ""
Reply:Jesus is a male given name, the Latin form of the Hebrew name Joshua.
Reply:Yeshua
Reply:Yeshua, sometimes translated Joshua, even though Joshua is actually spelled Yehoshua. Jesus is the Latin translation.
